Gerd Rehme’s painting ‘Real?’ has been nominated for the
International Art Prize in Düsseldorf-Hilden at the QQTec Cultural Centre.
Vernissage: 23/03/2025, 2 pm
2025 is a very special year for QQTec. The private cultural centre is celebrating its 25th birthday. Starting out as an art school, it has developed into a place for art, music, theatre, film and much more from the world of culture.
Since 2010, the QQArt gallery has hosted an annual – now biennial – internationally advertised, juried and award-winning themed exhibition. The selected themes follow QQTec’s focus on ‘art and technology’, each with a word from physics. Past themes have been, for example: Energy (2010), Light (2011) through to Contrast (2021) and Focus (2023). The theme of this year’s exhibition is ‘Frequency’. The number of applications this time was 821 works by 331 artists from 10 countries.
As last time, the judging was organised by category. Prize money of €600 will be awarded in each of the 3 selected categories ‘Painting/Graphics’, ‘Photo/Video’ and ‘Sculpture/Installation’. This year again with the financial support of Sparkasse HRV.
The expert jury consisted of: Günter Kuschmann (theatre, visual arts), Klaus Sievers (painting), Zoran Velinov (painting, performance) and Dr Helmut Stein (gallery owner QQArt). From the 821 works submitted, 44 of 39 artists were selected for the exhibition. They come from all regions of Germany. Internationally, the spectrum ranges from Canada to Lithuania and North England to Spain. Five works come from the Mettmann district.
The exhibition will be open from 23 March to 13 April 2025 on Sundays from 2 – 6 pm. The vernissage will take place on Sunday, 23 March 2025 at 2 pm. The finissage with award ceremony will then take place on 13 April.
